Is Goulash In My Future?

Never in my wildest dreams could I have conceived that I could consider another country on the planet to be a better place to live than the place of my birth, the United States of America.  However, in the last fifteen years or so I have seen this country transformed from “The Shinning City on a Hill” that Ronald Reagan envisioned, into something akin to the “Hotel California” by The Eagles.  Look up the words to that song.  It is a place which “Could be heaven or it could be hell”, a place where “You can check out anytime you want, but you can never leave.”

American liberals have been chipping away at our Constitution for a very long time, but the most egregious assault started with the election of our forty-fourth president, Barack Hussein Obama.  Obama was obviously different from all those who preceded him.  It wasn’t just that he was of mixed races, with an African father and a caucasian mother born in this country.  He was the first president who had a desire to “Fundamentally Transform America”, and far too many people were afraid, possibly out of fear of being labeled “racist”, to ask……. “Into what?”

Since the day he took office in January of 2009 this country has been on a downward trajectory.  This path was briefly halted by the unlikely election of Donald Trump in 2016. This brash, often uncouth and profane man actually has many redeeming qualities, but the most important one was that he unabashedly loves this country, and has never been afraid to express that simple fact.  That instantly made him the target of political elites on both sides of the aisle.  He didn’t talk or indeed act like a politician.  He didn’t play by the rules of the “Swamp”.  Therefore, he must be removed.  Until that happened, he must be stymied at every turn as he attempted to keep the pre-election promises he made to the American people.  They were quite simple.

Close our southern border by building “The Wall”.  Stop wasting the blood of our servicemen and women in pointless never-ending wars overseas, spending trillions of borrowed dollars in the process.  Reverse the outsourcing of American industry and jobs to foreign countries, particularly China.  Make this country energy independent, not subject to energy blackmail by foreign producers like the members of OPEC.  Despite vigorous attempts to throw up roadblocks at every opportunity, he was successful in beginning to tackle these issues until the onset of the Wuhan Pandemic in late 2019.  At that time our economy was booming.  Virtually every American who wanted to work had a job, and wages were rising, particularly among lower skilled and minority workers.

Trumps greatest mistake was to take the advice of Dr. Anthony Fauci, who has since proven himself to be a self aggrandizing egomaniac.  Since the 2020 election was stolen, and yes I did say STOLEN by the Democrats, their grasp for power and revenge against those who supported Trump has been shocking and frightening.  People have been locked up on trumped up charges (pardon the pun) of trespassing on federal property, vaguely accused of being flight risks because of their “insurrectionist” belief that not only was the 2020 election conducted in a very suspect manner in key battleground states, but that they had the right under the Constitution to “Peacefully Protest” and have their grievances addressed by their elected representatives.

The attack on the Capitol Building on January 6th of last year was carried out by a very few members of the crowd who had attended the “Stop The Steal” rally on the Mall outside the Capitol.  It began before President Trump finished addressing the rally attendees. There is mounting evidence that the incursion was planned and implemented by members of the FBI and individuals they recruited.  None of this is being considered by the “Kangaroo Court” proceeding of the January 6th Commission now in progress.

Since he took office in late January of last year, Joe Biden, the feckless and corrupt Vice President under Barack Obama, has undone nearly everything Donald Trump accomplished.  Millions of illegal aliens are again streaming across our southern border, not just from Mexico and Central America, but from over a hundred countries around the globe.  We are once again energy dependent on foreign sources and energy prices for gasoline, diesel fuel, propane and heating oil have skyrocketed.  Mask and vaccine mandates have crippled American businesses, and the supply chain crisis is having an enormous negative impact on the construction industry.  Items like garage doors and rain gutters, required to complete home construction and allow the closing process to be accomplished, are basically unavailable.

Inflation is at a decades long high and every American family is feeling the pinch.  Basic items like milk, meat and even breakfast cereal are rising at alarming rates.  Used car prices are through the roof, and those are being followed by the price of new cars as well.  Add to all this the fact that we are having a colder and wetter winter than normal in many areas of the country and you have a witches brew of issues which can and will cripple our economy.

Meanwhile, what is the current resident of the White House doing?  Why giving almost incoherent interviews and a two hour press conference that not even the media spin doctors could decipher and explain.  Complaining that he isn’t being treated fairly by the lap dog media anymore, he plans to travel the country in Air Force One, trying to rally support for his rapidly failing agenda.  Perhaps trying to emulate the performance of the Commander In Chief, Vice-President Kamala Harris is giving a series of disjointed interviews of her own, while White House Chief of Staff Ron Klain seems to be in charge, trying to clean up the messes as fast as Biden and Harris can make them.

So now I am pondering if there is indeed another place on the planet where I’d consider spending the rest of my days, and Hungary comes to mind.  That country for centuries had been ruled by foreign governments, most recently the Soviet Union.  Hungarians understand the necessity of having secure borders and protecting the rights of their citizens from hordes of invaders who wish to enter their country and deplete their resources.  Individuals who have nothing in common with Hungarians, religiously, culturally, or economically.  Hungarian Goulash has always been one of my favorite dishes.  Maybe they could find a place for my wife and myself there if we promise not to take, but rather to give a positive input to their society.
