TWA 800 Update

July 17, 2019 will mark the 23rd anniversary of the crash of TWA 800.  That date, like December 7, 1941 and September 11, 2001, should be seared into the memories of American citizens.  It is a date when verifiably and undeniably, major segments of our government decided that it was acceptable to lie to the American public.  Because of a press corps which was willing to accept anything which came out of the Clinton White House, no matter how implausible, the story was buried, and up to now, the coverup of the real cause of the crash has succeeded.  With just a little luck, that travesty of justice may soon come to an end.

I started this website in September of 2017 with the thought in mind to try to expose the many untruths which were being perpetrated by government officials in what has accurately been dubbed “The Swamp”.  In particular, I wished to finally bring out the truth concerning the event which took the lives of 230 individuals, and shattered the lives of many of their friends and families.  It definitely adversely affected mine.  From the time that the NTSB “Probable Cause” report was published on August 23, 2000, I knew that a hoax had been successfully perpetrated by the Clinton administration.  I couldn’t believe that it would be allowed to stand, but the events following 9/11, and then 8 years of the Obama Administration, with Hillary Clinton as a major player, proved me wrong.

Starting in the fall of 2017, I have been giving my presentation entitled “The Downing of TWA 800 – The Facts and the Lies” to audiences around the country.  The response has been almost universally positive.  When presented with the facts, most people come to the reasonable conclusion, that at the very least, the original NTSB investigation was tainted, and there needs to be a reopening of the case to consider the mass of evidence which was ignored at the time. DC-10 & Max-8, Deja Vu?

As government officials continue to examine the possible connection between two recent fatal crashes of Boeing 737 Max-8 aircraft, I am wondering if the data obtained from the Lion Air and Ethiopian Airlines flight recorders is being used to test the reactions of pilots to the pitch-over inputs from the MCAS system.  If not, they should be.

I am reminded of a similar situation which developed after the second grounding of the DC-10 fleet when United Airlines Flight 232 crash landed at Sioux City, Iowa on July 19, 1989 after a catastrophic failure of the center engine caused a loss of flight controls due to hydraulic fluid loss.  It was the third fatal crash of the wide-body jet.

Several months later, I was receiving a semi-annual simulator check at our training facility in St. Louis.  After I had finished my check ride, the head of the Lockheed 1011 training program came into the simulator and asked if I would mind doing one more, non-graded scenario with several additional people observing in the simulator.  I agreed, and he introduced three gentlemen.  One was a DC-10 instructor Captain with United, one was with the FAA and one from the NTSB.

The simulator was reactivated, and the scenario began.  The airplane was placed level at 33,000’ and at cruise speed.  Suddenly I heard a “BANG” and we observed the number two engine spinning down, obviously having experienced a mechanical failure.  We completed the engine failure checklist.  Shortly thereafter, we noticed a low pressure light on the “D” hydraulic system indicators, and went through the checklist to secure that system as well. Gun Free New Zealand!

On March 21, the New Zealand government issued an order that immediately reclassified certain commonly-owned semi-automatic firearms as “military style semi-automatics,” or MSSAs. These, like what are referred to as “Assault Weapons” by the gun banners in this country are “semi-automatic” weapons which resemble military full automatic capable weapons.

The female New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern stated that in addition to the reclassification, legislation would soon be introduced to require confiscation and destruction of these weapons by the government, similar to that practice instituted by Australia several years back. A gun banner’s paradise, where the honest folks will abide by the rules and further disarm themselves.  Unfortunately, the criminals, crazies and terrorists will not.

In this country, the usual suspects like Hillary Clinton, Bernie Sanders, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Michael Bloomberg immediately praised the immediate and “brave” response to the use of such weapons by the mosque shooter last week. What nobody wanted to mention is that it is already difficult to obtain a weapon in New Zealand, and concealed carry permits are as rare as the proverbial hen’s tooth in that country. So, when the crazy showed up at the mosque, there was no one to stop him until authorities arrived, and that took a long time, while he was calmly reloading and executing wounded people in the mosque and in the street outside.

So, thanks to the efforts of their government, New Zealanders can feel safe in their “gun free zones”. In truth, they have been potentially put in greater danger. Until the police arrive, there will once again be no one to stop the forces of evil, and they are out there. Fortunately for us, we have the Second Amendment to our Constiution. At least for now.

LOBFS?

As the controversy continues to rage over the cause of the fatal crashes of two Boeing 737 Max-8 aircraft in the last five months, the flying public is becoming mesmerized by the term “MCAS” which stands for Maneuvering Characteristics Augmentation System.  As the facts become known, it is becoming apparent that what they should be concerned about is “LOBFS”. What does that stand for?

Lack Of Basic Flying Skills!

Transcription of the voice recorder tape for Lion Air Flight 610, which crashed into the Java Sea last October, killing all 189 souls on board,  gives some chilling insights. The tape reveals that the Captain was going though the flight manuals trying to figure out why the aircraft was continuing to pitch the nose down, while the “stick shaker” another indication of an imminent stall, was sounding. The co-pilot was at the controls.

Unlike a flight on the same aircraft the previous day, where a “deadheading” pilot sitting in the cockpit jump-seat between the pilots correctly diagnosed the problem and told the crew what needed to be done (turning off two switches on the center pedestal) to return to a safe flight regime, the Lion Air 610 crew was apparently clueless, and everyone died as a result. 737 Max-8, Safe or Not?

I was recently asked by an individual (who is a military trained aviator by the way) if I thought it was safe to fly in a Boeing 737 Max-8, considering the current situation of recent fatal accidents and mandatory groundings.  My answer might surprise you.  I said: “Yes and no”. Let me explain.

The Max-8 has been in service with many of the worlds airlines since May of 2017.  There have only been two accidents involving the aircraft.  Unfortunately both were unsurvivable, fatal to all onboard.  That’s the surface fact, but what else is germane to the issue?

First, consider the fact that thousands of hours of flight time on Max-8s, carrying tens of thousands of passengers safely to their destination have been accomplished since the model was introduced.  So why now, have we had two fatal crashes in less than five months, causing the deaths of 346 people?

Look to the airlines involved.  Both Lion Air, a low fare Indonesian air carrier, and Ethiopian Airlines, the flag carrier of that country, must be considered “Third World” airlines.  While that doesn’t necessarily mean that travel on their flights is potentially hazardous, it does mean that we must look closely at their training facilities, training standards, and the experience levels of their flight crews. Gear Up – Brains Off!

There is an alarming trend which has been growing for many years in the field of aviation.  Specifically, greater and greater reliance on computer driven aids and less and less on basic piloting skills.

This isn’t only at the upper end of the scale, where pilots fly extremely sophisticated “glass cockpit” airliners and corporate aircraft, but all the way down to down to the very basics of flight knowledge.  What good is the information provided to a student pilot by an air traffic controller that they have converging traffic at their “10 o’clock” position if they have never owned, or perhaps even seen, a non-digital analog timepiece?

Why is this trend important to the average air traveler in this country, and indeed world wide?  Because there is a coming shortage of trained pilots to fill the cockpit seats of the world’s airlines which has not been felt since the late 1960s when the demands of the war in Viet Nam choked off the supply of military trained pilots, which had always been the main source of supply for the airline industry in the U.S.

When I was hired by Trans World Airlines in 1964, over 90 percent of the pilots being hired by the nation’s airlines were ex-military, and as such had been trained to a high level of proficiency in complex, and frequently multi-engined aircraft.  Continue reading Gear Up – Brains Off!

Racism

Then Illinois State Senator Barack Obama

Racist:

A person who shows or feels discrimination or prejudice against people of other races, or who believes that a particular race is superior to another.

Racism:

Prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against someone of a different race based on the belief that one’s own race is superior.

These days those terms are being grossly misused by individuals who are themselves guilty of what they accuse others of being.  Those people would posit that racism is unique to the Caucasian race.  Nothing could be farther from the truth.

We only have to look to the last century for an example of a non-Caucasian nation being totally, brutally and homicidally racist against not only Caucasians, but other so-called “People of Color” as well.

Who were they?  Why the Japanese, of course.  Their “Greater East Asia Co-Prosperity Sphere” claimed to be an organization which would “Create a self-sufficient bloc of Asian nations led by the Japanese and free of Western powers”.  A high sounding concept, which when implemented caused the deaths of millions of white, black, brown and yellow human beings.
