First Amendment Rights

The text of the First Amendment to the Constitution of the United States reads:

“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.”

Okay, all you Black Lives Matter, ANTIFA and various other groups who are tearing this country apart with your “protests” over the killing of George Floyd.   The operative words are:

“Right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.”

Nowhere does it say that you have the right to trample on the rights of your fellow citizens.  To deny them use of their streets and highways by blocking them, or to prevent them from being able to  live their lives in safety and harmony by conducting business in their privately owned stores and shops.  Nor does it say that you can disturb the peace shouting obscenities at the authorities through bullhorns.

Nowhere does it state you have the right to denigrate me for the color of my skin, anymore than I have to denigrate you because of the color of yours.  Nowhere does it state that you have the right to choose the laws on the books you will obey, and disregard others.

Nowhere does it state that you have the right to demand that I kneel and apologize for having supposed “white privilege” when in fact minorities have been given what are probably unconstitutional carveouts and opportunities in the form of “affirmative action” laws passed as part of “equal rights” legislation in the mid to late 1960’s.

Some would have us believe there is some sort of  “genocide” going on against back Americans.  If there is, it is being committed not by police, but rather by blacks against each other in the inner city ghettos of big cities which have been controlled by Democrats for decades.  Young black men are the oppressors.  They are killing each other in droves, and threatening their neighborhoods in the process.   Now, some groups are calling for defunding or abolition of police departments, and threatening to take the inner city violence into the suburbs and rural areas.  Should they try that tactic, they will discover why the Founding Fathers placed the Second Amendment after the First.
