The 1966 movie  “The Russians Are Coming, the Russians Are Coming!” staring Brian Keith, Theodore Bikel,  Jonathan Winters and Alan Arkin, among others, was a very funny movie.  If you didn’t see it, try to find it, because it has amazing parallels to what’s happening today.

The plot revolved around a Russian submarine captain wanting to have a look at the New England coastline through his periscope, and accidentally running aground on a sandbar.  What happens next is a classic example of misinformation spread by hysterical people causing a panic.  The movie ends in a bit of pre-Gorbachev “Glasnost” when the New Englanders and Russians become friends after an incident lets them see the goodness in each other.

Today’s Russian hysteria isn’t exactly the same kind.  Now, the left is portraying the Russians as evil plotters, whose goal is to overthrow a legitimate leftist candidate for United States President by hacking our election procedures in order to assure the election of a right wing wacko!

Say again?  You say the Russians, organizers of the 1918 Communist revolution and creators of the totalitarian U.S.S.R. are are trying to empower American right wingers?  By preventing the United States from becoming a European style socialist state?  By putting a man you say is Adolph Hitler reborn in charge of the American nuclear arsenal?  Do I have all that correct?

Hey Michael Moore!  Hey Hollywood!  This could be the script for a sequel. “The Russians Are Coming……AGAIN!”  Please check your brains and straightjackets at the door……….
