Yesterday, I was waiting in line at Home Depot to return an item. The gray haired gentleman in front of me was wearing a t-shirt emblazoned with the seal of the United States Navy. I asked him if indeed he was a Navy veteran. He confirmed that, and as I always do, I thanked him for his service. What he said then really got my attention. “I’m ashamed of my country” he said. “I never thought I could say such a thing, but it’s true”. “I hope I’m not offending you, but what just happened in Afghanistan was the last straw for me, how could we allow someone like Joe Biden become our president?”
“It’s simple” I replied. “Most of the Republican politicians let us down. they allowed the corrupt election results to stand. Biden is an addled fool. The disastrous situation on the southern border, and now the totally bungled Afghanistan withdrawal are proof positive of that.”
“Yeah, but what can we do about it?” He asked. “Well,” I said, “For starters stop the politically correct B.S. and confront those who continue to support Joe Biden.” “The local offices of our Republican Senators and members of the House should be inundated with irate voters like you and me, telling them to stop trying to ‘work’ with the Democrats, who don’t know the meaning of the word.” “As long as we grouse among ourselves, but don’t do anything about it, they think they can continue with business as usual.”
At that point our conversation ended. He completed his transaction and left, as did I. All the way home, I thought about what he and I said to each other, and how useless our angst about the direction our country is being dragged by the Democrats is, if we are unwilling to do something about it.
In my book “The Water Lily Warriors”, I paint a grim portrait of what life could become in this country of we were successfully attacked by a couple of EMP weapons. The actions being taken by the Democrats, especially the complete mishandling of our withdrawal from Afghanistan, make such a scenario, or something very similar, all the more likely. North Korea has announced a restarting of their nuclear weapons program, and Iran will be close behind if they haven’t already done so. Both these nations either have, or shortly will have, low orbit satellites crossing over our nation many times each day. We have no idea what they contain. If you have no idea how an EMP works, now would be a good time to look it up. The arming of the Taliban with billions of dollars of weaponry when we left so precipitously will come back to haunt us for years.
Most people in this country are unaware of how vulnerable we are to a terrorist attack which could make the events of 9-11 pale in comparison. A government which feels “global warming” is a greater threat to this country that any of our adversaries or terrorist organizations is living in a dangerous fantasy land. Forewarned is supposed to mean forearmed, but this concept seems to be lost on those, from Joe Biden on down, who we foolishly have allowed to be placed in office. God help us if we can’t realize this, and correct the situation before it’s too late. We’re looking at the next 9-11, and it could be immeasurably worse than the last.
