Foreign and Domestic

I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter: So help me God.

This oath, or something very similar in nature, is given by every elected official in this country when they are “Sworn In” to begin their term in office.

When someone joins the United States military, they swear the following oath:

“I, _____, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God.”

It’s basically the same oath, except that it also binds the swearer to follow the orders given by their superiors, from the President on down.  This is a very significant difference, which could become extremely important in the weeks and months to come.

During the Clinton Administration, and again later in the Obama Administration, a questionnaire was circulated among various units such as Navy Seals, Army Delta Forces and U.S. Marine units.  These questionnaires asked if in the process of enforcing gun control legislation or Executive Orders, would these military service members be comfortable with disarming American citizens, even if it required the use of deadly force. Shockingly, it has been reported that one in five enlisted personnel and one in twenty officers indicated a willingness to do so.

The possibility of exactly such a situation confronts us if Joe Biden takes office this January.  So, the Constitutional guarantees to keep and bear arms granted us under the Second Amendment might all hinge on whether our military will follow an order from the Commander In Chief which clearly violates our Constitution.

What makes this all the more onerous is the fact that Biden might have been elected under a cloud of suspicion that the election process was corrupted by blatant fraud in just a few critical counties in “Battleground” states.  Over seventy-four million Americans voted for President Trump.  I can’t believe they will take this lying down.  The only question is, what form will their displeasure manifest itself?  We have already seen how far the left will go. The riots and looting of the last six months have proved that beyond any doubt.

So, what mechanisms can be used to stop the radical agenda of the left?  It has become obvious that the Federal Department of Justice, even under Trump appointed Attorney Generals, is unwilling to uphold the law, and live up to the oaths they swore.  So the public may be forced to rely on their state and local law enforcement to give them the justice and protection that the DOJ and FBI have failed to provide.  There is nothing closer to citizens than their locally elected County Sheriff.  If we believe they are acting in our best behalf, we must give them our complete support.

This is already happening in states across the nation, where local Sheriffs are refusing to enforce unconstitutional edicts imposed by governors, mayors or other authorities on their constituents.  Again, these brave Sheriffs are our last line of defense against tyranny.  We can only hope that if push comes to shove, our military will perform in a like manner.  We are indeed faced with enemies, both foreign and domestic who wish this country ill, and want to trash our Constitution and the guarantees it provide to American Citizens. Unfortunately, far too many politicians, on both sides of the aisle, have forgotten the oath they swore.
