A Year To Remember

Can you believe the sign on this “protester”?  Well I hope she doesn’t get killed either.  However, if she does suffer that fate, it is far more likely to be at the hand of a fellow black person than a white, let alone a white law enforcement officer.  What the hell  has happened to our country?

My wife and I looked forward to 2020.  Our 50th anniversary was in April of this year, so last year we began planning for what I promised her would be “A year to remember!”  Well it sure has been that, but not in the way we both envisioned.  It was supposed to start with spending most of the month of April at Kapalua on the Island of Maui, one of our favorite spots on the planet.  Then, we would move into our new home in South Carolina in late summer, capping off the year by hopefully spending a few weeks in Europe after Labor Day, seeing European friends and visiting old haunts over there.  None of that has, or will happen, with the exception of our house closing.

Instead, we have endured the Covid-19 lockdown, followed by what can only be classified as race riots, which have destroyed significant portions of major American cities.  And yes, it is about race.  Many, if not most blacks in this country have been convinced by the Black Lives Matter organization that we are a systemically racist society.  According to them, that is particularly true in the case of law enforcement personnel.  Visions of African-Americans being hunted down like animals by various police departments have been generally accepted by far too many people of all races, although the numbers show a completely different story.  The death of George Floyd in Minneapolis was the spark which ignited the conflagration.  Vividly portrayed in the most graphic way by the national media, it was seized by BLM as the instrument to inflame the black community against whites in general, and law enforcement in particular.

As a result, violent mobs of “Protestors” comprised mainly of young black youth, joined by anarchist white “Social Justice Warriors”, spawned by ANTIFA, and funded by America haters like George Soros, have laid waste to our country wherever they have been allowed by local authorities to do so.  Virtually all the cities where the rioting has been most severe are controlled by Democrats.  There is a message there.  It’s what happens when you take a group of people, and not raise them up, but instead destroy their society by making them more and more dependent on social welfare programs.  Look at the realities.  In the early part of the last century, fifty years after the end of slavery, less than 25% of black children were born out of wedlock.  Currently, that figure is well over 70%.  How has that happened?  It’s simple.  The welfare system penalized the traditional family unit.  If the father was present, the family was not entitled to the level of public assistance they would receive if he was absent.  Aid to dependent children born out of wedlock actually rewarded that behavior.  Teenaged girls were encouraged to bear illegitimate babies.  They became in effect the “Breadwinner” of the family.  The child’s father was only present at the act of procreation, not as a stabilizing force during childhood.   This was particularly damaging to the male children.   The lack of positive male role models at home gave way to those being provided by gang members or “rappers” whose violent lyrics promoted the carnage so common in many big cities today.

Instead of using the many available examples of intelligent and successful black men as role models, those young men have been encouraged to emulate the dregs of their society, and the recent deaths of George Floyd in Minneapolis and Rayshard Brooks in Atlanta are a classic example of that fact.  Floyd was not a good person and neither was Brooks.  Both were convicted felons.  Floyd was under the influence of illegal drugs when he died.  That was a violation of his parole.  It is also apparent that the reason Brooks ended up resisting arrest for a DUI is that he knew that  was also a parole violation, which would likely end up with him incarcerated and serving out the original sentence.  It was not because he feared his life was in danger.  All that is ignored by the media, Black Lives Matter and Democrat politicians.  The “mainly peaceful” protests are anything but.  Looting, burning and other acts of violence are being condoned as “reasonable” because of the supposed 400 years of subjugation, systemic racism and prejudicial behavior by whites against blacks.

What occurs on the first Tuesday in November will seal the fate of race relations in this country.  If Trump is defeated and the Democrats take the Senate and the House, Americans can kiss their Constitutional Rights and the Republic goodby.  That can only end in increased lawlessness, armed confrontation and eventually civil war.  Everyone, of all political persuasions, had better consider that fact in the next few months.
