How much is TOO much?

The recent pre dawn raid on the rented Ft. Lauderdale home of Roger Stone by the FBI should be a real eye opener for American citizens, whether you are on the left or right side of the political spectrum.  It should be of particular interest to those 35 and under, because it foreshadows what may be the world you will live in for the rest of what is potentially a long life.

Twenty nine assault weapon wielding FBI agents in full tactical gear and wearing night vision goggles surrounded the Stone residence and proceeded to accomplish a tactical operation which would equal, if not surpass, the raid by Seal Team Six which sealed the fate of Osama bin Laden.  It would be interesting to know if the numbers of agents, the weapons they carried and vehicles they used exceeded those used in the capture of “El Chapo” Guzman and other cartel drug lords.

One thing is absolutely certain.  They were FAR in excess of what was required for the arrest of an unarmed, sixty-six year old professional journalist.  Even if they felt he was a “Flight Risk”, was it necessary to deploy those measures, rather than just keep the house under surveillance until later in the day, and have a couple of FBI Agents serve the search warrant and make the arrest if warranted?

It is apparent that the FBI, under its current leadership, and at the urgings of Special Council Robert Mueller, has morphed into something far different than its original mandate intended.  It is becoming something more akin to the Russian KGB, Nazi Gestapo or Imperial Japanese Kenpeitai, organizations designed to strike fear into the hearts of citizens, not protect them from wrongdoers.  We are constantly told that most members of the FBI rank and file are honest hard working individuals, who work daily to protect American citizens and their liberties.  I desperately want to believe that is true, but why then are they not loudly and vocally protesting these obvious excesses directed by the top of the agency?  Are they also afraid of reprisals?  If so, from whom?

The “weaponization” of various government agencies has been around for quite a while, but it was greatly expanded under the Clinton Administration, and nearly perfected under President Obama.  Many of the individuals put in place under his administration are still there, and doing the job of “resisting” the Trump Administration policies by whatever means they deem necessary.  This has to cease, or an orderly transition of political power will never again take place in our country.  We can look to places like China, Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Russia and Venezuela to see what our future portends if we don’t cut out this cancer, and quickly.
