A Swiss-Lutheran immigrant named Johann Straus, described by his family as having had severe mental illness all his life, attacked innocent people with a semi-automatic pistol in shops and restaurants in a popular Toronto neighborhood called “Greek-town” on Sunday night. He was apparently deliberately targeting females in his rampage, killing an eighteen year old woman and a ten year old girl , and injuring 13 others. That’s how CNN, MSNBC, ABC, CBS, NBC the New York Times and the rest of the mass media would like the story to run. However, unfortunately for them……..
The truth is, his name was Faisal Hussain, and he is not Swiss or Lutheran, but an immigrant from Pakistan, one of those countries in the Middle East populated with peoples who adhere to that religion of peace, love and tolerance called Islam. He also was reportly an admirer of ISIS. Man, that really doesn’t fit the required narrative, so, let’s concentrate on what does. The handgun.
Comment after comment given to Associated Press reporters by such stellar individuals as Toronto Mayor John Tory followed this line of reasoning: “Why does anyone in this city need to have a gun at all?” Well, a hint, Mayor Tory: Maybe someone who is defenseless while being shot at by a person who could care less about your gun free zones or gun free ideals, that’s who! Hiding under a desk, or under a table, or, as in the case of individuals in the gay nightclub in Orlando, in a bathroom, while they heard yet another “peaceful” Muslim coming down the hall reloading his weapon just doesn’t cut it.
Perhaps Mayor Tory should go down to Chicago, and discuss reducing gun violence and murder with Mayor Rahm Emanuel. While he’s on his exploratory visit to the gun toting capital of the universe (The Good Old USA, with our outdated Second Amendment) he should go out to San Francisco and discuss city sanitation and homeless population problems in America’s most strident “Sanctuary City”. Don’t forget to take your armed security personnel with you, Mayor. I’m sure they’ll be welcomed in both places. After all, you’re a politician, you’re entitled to protection.
