Constitutional Rights?

We are being bludgeoned by the views of those who seem to believe that our Constitution grants access to the United States to anyone who desires to come here, at any time, and from anywhere.  No discussion.  They are right.  Anyone who disagrees with them are wrong.  End of story.  Oh really?

Perhaps the people who believe this could cite the section of our Constitution which grants these “rights” to non-citizens.  They can’t, because they are not there.

The First Amendment to our Constitution reads:

“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.”

The Fourth Amendment to our Constitution reads:

“The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.”

You will notice that the term “the people” is used in both these amendments.  To assume this term means all “people” on the planet is absurd.  Our laws apply to United States citizens or others who are residing in our country LEGALLY.  We absolutely have the right to admit or EXCLUDE any individual, or group of individuals, who we feel would benefit us, on the positive side, or threaten us, on the negative side.  Every country has that right.
President Trump has issued a directive which will temporarily limit access to our country by citizens from seven countries in the Middle East who are harboring, or have harbored, members of known terrorist groups.  It is the duty of the President to do all in his power to make this country safe for it’s citizens and legal visitors.  In my opinion the President is doing just that.  For all the “experts” out there who are interpreting our Constitution, may I suggest that you first get a copy and read it, along with the amendments thereof, before you pick up your megaphone, like Elizabeth Warren, or make tearful pronouncements, like Chuck Schumer.  It is unfortunate that some people have been, and will be, inconvenienced by this temporary ban.  However, the safety and security of our nation must necessarily come first.
