Ted Bundy was one of Americas most prolific serial killers. Prior to his arrest for these heinous murders he probably would have passed a background check to buy a firearm. Bundy was a handsome young man, by all accounts friendly and personable. He was also, unknown to friends, family and acquaintances, a savage, brutal murderer. He was the personification of evil.
Nikolas Cruz and Connor Betts are, or in the case of Betts were, evil, and the authorities knew it. However, because of laws passed by “well meaning” liberal politicians. Their youthful “transgressions” and records of anti-social and violent behavior didn’t follow them into adulthood as a matter of record.
The latest mass shootings, in El Paso and Dayton are horrific. However, they are trivial in numbers compared with the ever mounting death toll in Chicago or Baltimore. The image of an “Assault Style” weapon is once again being used to push for draconian gun control methods. The Democrats, led by Senator Chuck Schumer, are demanding that President Trump call the Congress back into session to deal with this “National Emergency”. Could the situation on our southern border be brought into the mix if he does so?
Fox News commentator Dan Bongino brought the whole matter into focus when he said this morning that politicizing these tragedies to gain a few votes in the upcoming primaries is a disgrace. President Trump is no more responsible for these killings that Schumer or Nancy Pelosi, and passing feel good gun laws will not make Americans safer. The criminals, crazies and terrorists won’t obey those laws anymore than they respect those already on the books.
What needs to be addressed is what has happened to our society. Why are parents allowing their children to play violent video games? Why are some parents playing them as well? What is the attraction of playing a “game” who’s whole purpose is to kill and mutilate human beings? We are desensitizing generations of people who have no concept of right and wrong, good and evil, or responsibilities as opposed to “rights”.
Just as the end game for “Universal Healthcare” is government controlled socialized medicine, the ultimate goal of “reasonable gun control laws” is prohibition of gun ownership and confiscation of firearms, Australian style. Make no mistake about that. If the Democrats succeed in bamboozling the American Public into passing such insanity, then I propose that all law enforcement designed to protect politicians, such as the Capitol Police and the Secret Service be disbanded. Our politicians have no more right to protection from harm than the average citizen. Over the years, we have foolishly allowed them to pass laws, but exempt themselves from their edicts in the process. That applies to their salaries and retirement benefits, medical insurance, etc. This political elite must be brought under control, and the sooner the better.
