Thanks?

At the close of World War Two in 1945, much of the world was covered by rubble.  Large parts of Europe, North Africa, Russia, China, Japan, the Philippines and elsewhere were in ruins.  The United States, which had been the “Arsenal of Democracy” during that conflict, now moved into another vital role, the reconstruction of our allies and enemies alike.  We did so without hesitation, or the planet might have descended into chaos and anarchy.  In the years since, we have continued to expend our resources to keep the world as safe and secure as possible.

When natural disasters strike, we are among the first to offer aid, even to sworn enemies of this country.  And what has our benevolence gained us?  Apparently very little.  We have become the “soft touch”, the “patsy”, the “sucker” to too many nations and organizations.  Nations took our money and then used it against us, siding with our enemies.  Is that any way to say “thanks” for all the blood and treasure this country has given to others?

A series of administrations, starting with that of Franklin Delano Roosevelt, have increasingly burdened our country with debt.  The last one, under Barack Obama, doubled our national debt in only eight years, and for no discernible purpose.  Our military wasn’t strengthened.  Our crumbling infrastructure wasn’t repaired.  Our country wasn’t made more energy independent.  Our national borders were not secured.  And all the while we continued the practice of giving money to other countries under the concept of “Foreign Aid”

Well, on this Fourth of July 2018, it’s time we faced up to the truth.  We can no longer afford to be the rich uncle guardian of the globe.  We have impoverished ourselves by our own foolishness, and are continuing the process.  This must stop.  We must send home the illegals, and eliminate ALL forms of foreign aid other than disaster relief.  We must do what President Trump has called for, simply put the needs of  American Citizens first.

When and if we figure out a way to control our borders, repair our infrastructure, rebuild our military, become totally energy independent, and pay off our multi-trillion national debt, then, and only then, can we once again consider financial aid to other countries.  Not to figure this out is insanity, and there seems to be no dearth of that in this country at the present time.

In 1776, American colonists rose up in anger over how they were being treated by their government.  They fought a bloody war to overturn those injustices.  They did not flock to another country and demand to be taken in.  It is high time for peoples all over the world to fight for freedom in their own homelands.  If they want to come here, they must expect to do so legally.  There is a process in place to do so.
