What Do We Want?

I am dumbfounded by the continuing rhetoric being spewed by many members of the Democratic Party.  What was once considered to be the political party which represented the interests of the “working man” has gradually morphed into something very different.  Perhaps they should change their name to the Politically Correct Party.

The Democrat leadership finally showed their true colors when they declared the “Resistance” movement against the Trump administration.  This is virtually unknown in American politics.  It is a blatant attempt to overthrow the results of a presidential election by any means, fair or foul.  Rather than work harder to regain control of the government by convincing voters they have a better plan for our nation, they are instead standing in the way of any positive moves proposed by the Republicans.  It is almost as if they have returned to their recent roots as anti-war demonstrators of the 1960’s, rioting and burning to achieve their goals.

They have overturned decades of progress in the area of race relations.  Rather than take the opportunity to bring us together as a nation, the Obama administration sowed the seeds of distrust which allowed groups like Black Lives Matter, the Southern Poverty Law Center and the New Black Panthers to advocate killing police officers in retribution for claimed police excesses.   The statement made by Obama’s first Attorney General, Eric Holder, that “Where race relations are concerned, Americans are basically a nation of cowards” was a slap in the face of the majority of American citizens, the color of their skin notwithstanding.   It flew in the face of the fact that we have spent over a trillion dollars on programs to improve the status of black Americans since the mid 1960s.  Many of these programs disadvantaged other races in this country in an attempt to uplift the status of our black population.  It is obvious that those efforts have fallen woefully short of their expectations.

We must accept the fact that we cannot uplift one group at the expense of another.  We instead must allow all Americans to have EQUAL opportunity to either be successful or fail, according to their individual efforts, not a government program to pick winners according to their race or national origin.

This is the greatest country the world has ever known.  Any rational study validates that fact.  The reality that we need strong borders to secure our nation and provide a safe environment for our citizens shouldn’t be open for debate, but unfortunately it is.  The “Open Borders” and “Unlimited Amnesty” policies of the Democratic Party are a blatant attempt to seize and hold power in perpetuity by creating an economically dependent voter base out of former non-citizens.

In the process, we are accepting some very bad people into this country.  The MS-13 gang has used the “Catch and Release” policies instituted by the Obama administration to infiltrate thousands of gang members into our country.  They brought with them drugs and death.  We are told that this is why we have to have “sanctuaries” for illegals, and a blanket amnesty.  Otherwise, these “shadow world” people won’t contact or cooperate with the police when attacked by the gang members.  If we expedited the deportation of the illegals, INCLUDING the gang members, back to their country of origin, it would solve the problem, wouldn’t it?  But wait, there would go all those loyal Democrat voters!  This isn’t being politically correct, it is being politically EXPEDIENT!  Democrats are putting party before country.  That is NOT the American way.

Do you want this to happen?  Do you want to reward those whose personal actions keep them in the cycle of poverty and dependence on the government? Do you want to add additional financial burdens to the fifty percent of the American public who actually pay income tax?  Illegals cost billions of dollars in medical and social service costs each year.  Those costs are borne by those of us who work hard to support our families, and are forced, in effect, to support those who don’t or won’t work or are in our country ILLEGALLY.  If you agree with these policies, then vote for Democrats in November.  But be sure you understand what you are voting for. This country is at a tipping point.  If we go too much farther to the left we may never return, and we are perilously close to being there already.
