Once again the debate rages. To “Wall” or not to “Wall” off our southern border. To the “Globalists” on the left, led by unsavory billionaires like George Soros and company, there should be no borders at all. The concept of national security and integrity is passé, they say, everyone and everything should be able to pass seamlessly and unrestricted from one region on the planet to another. Unemotionally, let’s examine that concept.
If you have an ideology, like communism, that will spread unchecked. A religion, like Islam will do likewise. Unfortunately, unlike democracy or the western religions, they will spread not by example or proselytism, but by the sword or the bullet. Dangerous addictive drugs, and worse, new strains of diseases will spread faster and with more deadly results than they do now.
The great American experiment can and will be wiped out in a generation or two at most. The tribalism which is inherent in any society without a common language, customs and borders will prevail. It must, by the very nature of the human condition. In the past, immigrants from around the globe who arrived on our shores might have lived for a time in ghettos of people who looked, dressed, and sounded like what was familiar in the lands of their birth, but most quickly spread beyond those “little Italy’s”, etc, in search of greater opportunities elsewhere. In that manner they truly became “Americans”. They might have faced prejudice from those who came before, but that didn’t last. They didn’t live in the shadows, fearing deportation. They knew they had come here legally, and at great emotional and personal cost. It was worth it, to be a citizen of this great country. Now however, the millions who have knowingly violated our laws by coming across our southern border demand to be allowed to stay. They have figuratively broken into our house, and are sitting on our couch, demanding to stay because they are here. By the way, clothe, feed and educate me as well! Look at the latest “Caravan” headed to our country from Honduras and Guatemala. While there are some women and children, the majority appear to be young men who could indeed be members of the very gangs they claim to be fleeing from! MS-13 has already made use of that ploy.
If we don’t secure our borders, using the various state National Guards if necessary until we can build a secure barrier to control who enters this country, we are in deep trouble. The poisonous drugs are being brought in by the cartels. The violent gangs like MS-13 are coming in, disguised as economic “migrants” or “refugees”. Terrorists who would destroy our nation are among them. We must close this open wound before we bleed to death from neglect. Future generations will rightly hold us to account if we fail to do so.
