Mission Creep!

A definition of “Mission Creep” goes like this:

“a gradual shift in objectives during the course of a military campaign, often resulting in an unplanned long-term commitment.”

Sound familiar?  When applied to military operations, this could surely be applied to Viet Nam, Iraq and Afghanistan.  Possibly Korea as well.

Now it looms on the horizon with regards to “immigration reform”.  For years, we have been told to accept the fact that we have 11-12 million individuals in this country illegally.  Then came the “DACA” group.  They were supposed to comprise 800,000 “children” who had come illegally to this country with their parents.  As such, it wasn’t their choice, and so wasn’t their fault.

To make that concept more palatable, a new term was applied to the group.  They were now the “Dreamers”.  Well hey, Americans are a generous people. We all have dreams, as did our ancestors who proceeded us.  The problem is that our generosity has now placed us in debt to the tune of 20 Trillion dollars, more like 70 Trillion if you add all the unfunded liabilities our government has committed us to over the years.  So, how many more “dreams” can we afford to fulfill?

Magically, in the last 24 hours since it has been reported that President Trump and a significant number of Republican Senators and Congressmen have indicated a willingness to acquiesce to the “Dreamers” demands, their number has jumped to 1.8 MILLION.  That, my friends is the classic definition of “MISSION CREEP”!

If  “E-Verify”,  “Chain Migration”,  the Border Wall,  the “Diversity Lottery” and an end to “Birthright Citizenship” are not part of the mix,  we are just engaging in politics as usual.  Talk big and kick the can down the road, while continuing to allow our country to be invaded by hoards of illegal aliens. Many “dreaming” of a “handout” as much as a “hand-up”.

So, the distress signal of our flag flown upside down may be very appropriate, don’t you think?   As a nation right now, we are in trouble. Perhaps a good dose of common sense can save us from ourselves.
