God Bless America!

I believe in God.  In my lifetime I have seen too many things that cannot be explained without the presence of a Supreme Being who monitors, if not controls, our lives.  Almost without exception, the Founding Fathers were believers as well.  In the founding documents they beseeched The Almighty to protect and guide this country.  In the years since He has done that, but as we have become more and more secular in our beliefs and practices will He continue to do so?

When His name cannot be uttered in the classrooms of our schools.  When His Commandments are removed from our public edifices.  When the forces of atheism appear to prevail at every turn, does He still love and protect us as a nation?  I believe the answer is yes, and here’s why.

When we could have been led by an individual like Al Gore on September 11, 2001 He gave us George W. Bush to get us through that awful day and the months and years which followed.  When we could have had an extension of the awful policies of Barack Obama, who strengthened our most dangerous enemies and nearly bankrupted our country, He gave us Donald Trump instead of Hillary Clinton.

When it seems that we are being assailed on every front by destructive forces of nature and dangerous threats from vicious adversaries, He gives us a man who promises to “Make America Great Again”.

As we look back in history we realize He has always put the right people in charge when our very existence as a freedom loving nation was in doubt.  He has never deserted us, and we can only hope and pray to Him that He will never do so in the future, no matter how foolish we must appear in His eyes.  We can hope that “God Bless America” will not be just an empty slogan.
