Stay Out of the Kitchen!

I basically stay off social media sites, although my blog does have links to Facebook and Twitter.   In my estimation they have become electronic bathroom walls where, semi-anonymously, people can vent their spleen against anyone they disagree with.  The latest example of that behavior is the pillorying of Laura Ingraham, who had the temerity (according to the left) of mocking teen social activist David Hogg.

After pointing out that Hogg had apparently admitted that he had been rejected in his applications to several California universities, Ingraham was attacked by Hogg as a bully.  He posted a list of sponsors of her Fox News Channel program, suggesting that people boycott these companies if they didn’t drop their sponsorship.  Many of these organizations  promptly did.  So much for free speech. David Hogg and the Gun Debate.

I don’t know about you, but I’m getting very tired of being lectured by politicians, billionaires, various and sundry celebrities and now 17 year olds like David Hogg, with all the life experience of a 17 year old, about my right to defend myself and my family by whatever means I feel is appropriate.

All of the above individuals, with the possible exception of most of the 17 year olds, live in a secure environment, surrounded by armed guards and in closely guarded gated communities and the like.  Why, may I ask, are their lives, and their families lives, more important than you and yours?  Simple answer.  They’re not.  End of message.  Money and power may give you privileges not available to the common ruck of society, but it does not allow you to deny everyone below you on the rungs of the social ladder the basic right to self defense and self preservation.
